The Simon Kenton Council territory covers 18 counties in central and southern Ohio and Greenup County in northern Kentucky. These areas are further broken down into 'Districts'. Up until Spring 2021, our district was known as the 'Buckeye' District.
BSA National undertook a huge countrywide area mapping and re-districting program, leading to boundary changes for many of the current districts. With that bought name changes. Initially names were based upon compass cardinal directions, but then later given other names (voted by members of the council). To make matters more confusing, these are used interchangeably on events.
Now District boundaries are defined by school districts, making things slightly more logical.
So, to make things easier, the below info details the old & new names, including area maps.
Blue: North ‘Polaris’ District
Red: East ‘DayBreak’ District
Yellow: South ‘Frontier’ District
Green: West ‘Gateway’ District
