The 2021 Pinewood Derby

So how do you organize and run a pinewood derby event at the height of the COVID pandemic when social distancing means a reduction in max gathering numbers? Easy when Pack 333 leadership is on the ball!

Held at the Worthington Mirolo Community Pavilion, slightly later than usual in mid April, in previous years we've combined all dens together and run multiple heat, where each car is guaranteed to run against each other. This year we had to run it per den to start with, then final heats after that; simply to reduce the amount of people in the building.

Worked pretty well; even had visitors from a couple of local Scout troops helping out with activities for those not racing at the time.

A fun time was had by all; people came to race and eat!
