The 2022 Arrow Of Light Crossing Over Ceremony!
During the 5th grade, once they've earned their Webelos rank, all youth work towards earning their Arrow Of Light award. This is the highest youth rank which can be earned in Cub Scouts, and is the only Cub Scout award which can be worn after they leave the Pack: be it within a Troop or if/when they join as an Adult volunteer.
It is not mandatory for Cubs to earn the Arrow Of Light award though, even if they do not earn it, and/or, do not want to continue, they can still crossover with the others.
The Arrow of Light Crossing Over Ceremony is traditionally held towards the end of school year, usually during the Blue & Gold banquet. The purpose of crossing over is two fold:
A celebration of their time within Cub Scouting.
When the the Cub Scout youth, if moving on to Scouts BSA, 'crosses over' from Cubs to their chosen Troop.
The ceremony is very symbolic: A bridge is slowly constructed out of colored planks. Each plank represents a year in the Pack and takes the color of that den. A member of each den comes forward and places the plank on the bridge, until all are laid, making a path across; Cubs stand on one side, and members of their chosen troop stand on the other. Each 5th grader is called across, and joins their chosen Troop.
This year was a milestone for Pack 333: Our second only girl to complete the Arrow Of Light award became our first ever girl to crossover into a Troop. Proud moment for all!
So in May 2022, Pack 333 crossed over a total of three 5th graders into their chosen troops; one into Troop 268, one into Troop 332, and one into Troop 7332 (Girls Troop of 332).
What follows are assorted pictures from that event (more to follow once obtained from the Troops who took part),
