2020 Webelos First Responder
As part of their 'First Responder' core adventure, the Webelos spent an afternoon learning about First Aid techniques such as:
What they should do if someone is hurt.
Stroke / Heart attack symptoms and
Basic splinting (SAM & improvised).
First Aid kits:
A Kims Game!
What should go in them.
They also got to construct their own!
Basic CPR to the tune of 'Staying Alive' (on a teddy bear, with a feel similar to 'Resusci Anne'; couldn't get hold of a real one)
Extra fun things such as
PulseOx
EMT related Basic Life Support bag (which comes on our camp out)
AED / Defibrillator (EMT medic training unit, not an actual live device!)
All in all, good fun was had by all!
Unfortunately COVID restrictions soon after this stopped another session covering additional topics (frostbite, animal injuries etc) from being held that. Hopefully next year..
